Recreation Program Descriptions
Dance
Ballet, Tap and Jazz
These lessons are held in the lower level of the Senior Center. Fall, Winter and Spring sessions are offered which culminate with a recital in the spring. Classes are made available to those ages 4 and up.
Fall Registration usually begin in mid-Aug and classes begin in September.
Winter Registration usually begins in mid-November and classes begin at the end of November.
Spring Registration usually begins in mid-January and classes begin at the end of February.
Baseball
Youth Baseball
The department offers local baseball instruction and competition to boys and girls ages 7 through 12. Two levels of competition are offered at each age group to allow players to pick the program that best suits their ability. Practices begin early in May. Players will be contacted by their coach for practice upon receiving rosters. The practice sessions are generally 1 hour in length and are held at local parks at times convenient to the coach. League play begins in late May and runs through July, weather permitting. Most games are played at Brandt/Quirk Park early evenings on weeknights.
Divisions are as follows:
5 & 6 yr olds T-ball
6 & 7 yr olds Pee Wee
7 - 9 yr olds Rookie
Little Sluggers Baseball
Designed for those four years of age. Format will concentrate on instruction of basic skills using instructional equipment. Held two nights per week, this program contains both instructional drills as well as scrimmage games. Participants should have baseball glove and hat. Caregivers of participants are expected to participate
Basketball
Little Dunkers Basketball
An instructional program catered toward boys and girls currently enrolled in kindergarten through fourth grade. Instruction will stress basic skills, fundamentals using scaled down equipment, large group games, and small scrimmages.
Men’s League Basketball
Team registration for men’s city league basketball begins in the Park and Rec office in September. Play begins November, at the middle school gymnasium. Information on fees and scheduling will be available at the time of registration.
Open Gym Basketball
Sunday Open Gym sessions take place over the course of the winter dependent upon the availability of the Webster Elementary School Gym. Cost is $3.00 per visit or $40.00 for season pass. Check out our Facebook page for specific dates and updates!
Winter Activities
Cross Country Ski Trails
The cross-country ski trails are located at Brandt/Quirk Park. The trails are groomed when adequate snow is accumulated. A drainage ditch separates the two trails. The west side trail which is fairly flat and is approximately 1.75 miles in length and can be accessed at the north end of Hiawatha Street. This side of the trail goes north along the railroad tracks and includes 1 mile of trail in the wooded area at the northwest corner of the park. The east side trail is also approximately 1.75 miles in length and is accessible at the north end of Carriage Hill Drive with parking available at the trail head in the soccer field parking lot. This trail travels through open fields and onto the wooded High School hill which does provide a couple of good down hill runs.

Ice Skating Rinks/Hockey Rinks
There are several locations set up for ice skating during the winter months. An ice skating rink is available for the public to use at Brandt/Quirk Park located on Carriage Hill Drive and Silver Creek Pond located on North Water Street.

Camps
Rock River Day Camp
Experience the day camp adventure in your own back yard -- Riverside Park! This program covers eight weeks of fun. Some of the excitement includes; field trips, swimming at the Aquatic Center, arts and crafts, sports, drama, music, nature study, intergenerational activities and so much more! Fun! Fun! Fun all day long!
Disc Golf
Disc Golf - Rock River
The department maintains a 21 hole disc golf course in Brandt/Quirk Park. Click for course map. Improvements have been made to the Tee Boxes this past year. The Rock River Disc Golf Club organizes leagues. Visit their website for more information.
Fitness
Barre
Barre blends the latest exercise science with the principles of the Lotte Berk method (the genesis of the Barre movement) delivering a fusion of ballet, Pilates, yoga, and strength training to workouts.
Gentle Yoga
Gentle Yoga is a slower pace, relaxing class with more gentle stretching. Offers basic poses, standing and floor exercises, modifications and general benefits of yoga such as breathing techniques, balance, strengthening and relaxation. Bring your body and mind together into one harmonious experience. Namaste!Kick 'n Hiit (similar to Cardio Kickboxing)
We are turning up the heat at Kick 'n Hiit! This class combines timed intervals of kickboxing, strength, and cardio moves to light your muscles on fire! All fitness levels are welcomed & encouraged to join!
Senior Fitness
This class has a bit of everything to keep you fit and healthy and keep those "twinges in the hinges" at bay! Light weight lifting for strength and toning, cardio movements to get that heart pumping and good old-fashioned calisthenics for great muscles. Don't forget the excellent range of motion and flexibility plus the social benefits of interacting with friends.
Yoga
Yoga offers basic yoga poses, standing and floor exercises, modifications and general benefits of yoga such as breathing techniques, balance, strengthening and relaxation. Bring your body and mind together into one harmonious experience. Namaste!
Zumba Classes
Zumba is a fun, joyful Latin inspired fitness class the combines all the rhythms in Latin music (Salsa, Cumbia, Merengue, Rumba, Mambo, Belly Dance, Flamenco, Samba, Tango, Reggaeton, & Hip Hop). Zumba is the perfect dance workout for all ages, sizes, and abilities! Every class is a dance party, so ditch the workout and join the party!
Football
Flag Football
This program will include players in grades 4 through 6. Games are held Thursday evenings with practices scheduled on Saturday mornings in September through mid October.

Soccer
Little Kickers Soccer
This program is intended to introduce young players (4 year old kindergarten) to micro-soccer. Micro-soccer involves smaller sided teams playing on sized down fields in an effort to get players more involved in the action. This program runs in spring and fall.
Spring Soccer League
Spring season soccer will run from the end of March through May. Boys and girls age 5 to 14 years old are eligible. The micro soccer format using small-sided teams will be used.
Summer Soccer
This program is intended to introduce young players, ages 5 - 8 to micro-soccer, which will be integrated into the fall program. Micro soccer involves smaller sided teams playing on sized down fields in an effort to get all players more involved in the action.
Fall Soccer League
June registration for the fall soccer program is available for boys and girls age 5 year Kindergarten to 8th Grade are eligible. The season usually runs from September – October.
Soccer Camps
This youth soccer camp is offered to boys and girls ages 8 through 14 at Brandt/Quirk Park. The Watertown High School coach, will direct the camp designed to offer personalized, individual skill instruction and an understanding of group tactics in an atmosphere of fun and competition. Sessions are held in July. Fees are very reasonable and include a t-shirt and soccer ball.
Softball
Adult Summer Softball League
There are a variety of slow-pitch softball leagues for men and women at the softball complex in Riverside Park. Men's leagues play on Mondays and Wednesdays. Register a team or become a member of one.
Adult Fall Softball League
The department offers separate men’s leagues on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. The leagues begin play in September. Teams generally play double headers each night for five weeks. Women’s leagues will be offered if enough interest exists.
Volleyball
Fall/Winter Volleyball League
The department offers fall and winter volleyball leagues for men, women, and mixed teams at a variety of skill levels. League play begins in October and runs through March. Women play on Tuesdays; Men on Wednesdays and Coed leagues are on Mondays.
Summer Grade School Volleyball
This program consists of a combination of instructional drills and matches. Sessions will meet on Tuesdays from 5 to 6 pm from June through July, at the outdoor courts in Riverside Park. Pre-registration is required.
Wrestling
This instructional program is co-sponsored by the Watertown High School Wrestling Team and coaching staff. Students currently enrolled in 5-Kindergarten through eighth grade are eligible. Sessions meet on Tuesday evenings at the high school from November through January.
