Erosion Control & Stormwater Runoff Permit

A newly paved road curves around a construction site with bare soil and wooden forms along the edge, leading to residential houses in the background.

Erosion Control best management practices (BMPs) are used on construction sites to minimize the amount of sediment and other pollutants that may flow offsite and into local streams, lakes and wetlands during rain and snow melt events. The Wisconsin Construction Site Erosion Control Field Guide contains information on which BMPs to use in various situations, how to install them, and how to maintain them.
