Watertown Aquatics Department
The City of Watertown Aquatics Department has two facilities which provide programming to City of Watertown residents and non-residents alike: the Watertown Aquatic Center, a seasonal outdoor pool; and the Watertown Indoor Pool, a 6-lane competition pool located at the Riverside Middle School.
Current aquatics programs offered through the City:
Youth Swimming Lessons: Parent Tot (PTOT), AquaKids, Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Levels 1-5
Water Fitness classes
American Red Cross Certification:
Lifeguard Training: April - May, July (Registration opens April 7), Fall (TBD), Winter (TBD)
Lifeguard Recertification: April, Fall/Winter
Prerequisite Workshop: January, February, March, April, May; August, September, October, November, December (Registration opens July 14).
Water Safety Instructor (WSI) training: TBD
Lap swim – lap swim programming is intended for participants who wish to swim continuously. Much like running on a track, lap swimmers swim from one end to another using standard strokes, kicking, pulling or drill work for a workout. Since there are limited lanes (6) at both locations, swimmers must share space. Please circle swim when there are more than 2 swimmers in a lane.
Water Walking – Water walking programming is a fitness alternative to swimming laps and can be completed at various intensities. Have a physical therapy regiment? This is a great way to stay in shape and work on achy joints with a low gravity work out.
Open Swim – a time where community members of all ages can come to the pool and enjoy what the Aquatics Department has to offer!
