Proper disposal of leaves

Bagging leaves is the best way to prevent flooding from leaves clogging the storm sewer system and to prevent water quality impacts to fish and wildlife. Bagged leaves can be left curbside or taken to the Yard Waste Site at 1355 Boomer Street during operating hours. Leaves can also be composted on site, providing beneficial cover and nutrients for gardens and flower beds.
The next best leaf management practice is to rake piles of leaves onto the grass next to the curb. Street Division crews pick up leaf piles between October and early December, weather permitting. See Street Division for information on leaf collection routes and schedules.
