Bicycle Rodeo

This year’s Bicycle Rodeo will be on June 21, 2025 from 10:00am to 1:00pm in the Watertown High School parking lot. The Watertown High School is located at 825 Endeavor Drive. Riders must register by 11:30am to be included in the drawings.
The Bicycle Rodeo is for kids up to age 12 who can ride a two-wheeled bicycle. This year we are hoping to give away bicycle helmets, over 20 bicycles and LOTS of great prizes from local business! If it’s needed, the rain date is Monday June 23rd from 5:30p to 7:00p at the Watertown High School parking lot.
What Do Kids Do at the Bike Rodeo?
The Bicycle Rodeo was started in 1993, and gives young bicycle riders an opportunity to learn rules of the road for bicycles while riding in a supervised environment. At the bicycle rodeo there are nine different stations with chalked courses that the children have to master in order to pass the course. The objective of each course is to make sure that each child operates his or her bike correctly.
The stations include: changing direction and turning in circles, steering through tight spaces, weaving, having the ability to stop quickly, turning around, riding the bicycle very slowly while maintaining balance, and learning to bicycle hand signals.
Annual attendance is approximately 150 riders. This program is funded through community donations and operated by department members and volunteers from the community.
